Partnership Supports Economic Education
Published May 07, 2009
Kindergarten through fifth-grade students will be the initial beneficiaries of a new partnership to support economic education in Madison County’s public schools.
The four-way partnership involves the school district, the Council for Economic Education, Lexington-based Central Bank and Eastern Kentucky University.
The Richmond Register newspaper on May 5, 2009, quoted EKU President Doug Whitlock as saying, “If ever there was a time when economic education has been important, it’s now.”
The program, which will provide teacher training and guest speakers from the banking industry, will emphasize the importance of financial responsibility.
Partnership participants hope to expand the program in the future to middle school students.
